BAC compressor, an ISO 9001:2000 concern, established in 1979 by brothers Mr. A. Radhakrishnan and Mr. A. Sudhakaran , is a leading business house based at Coimbatore, in South India. With expertise in the field of engineering and engineering technology, the verticals at Bakgiam range from compressors, engineering contract manufacturing, to special pumps and machined components.

We started off with a production capacity of 300 compressors per annum in the year 1980. All the castings and machining were outsourced during that period. In 1983 BAC started its own machining unit to further improve its quality standard of its machined parts. In 1994 BAC acquired its own foundry. With both casting and machining done in-house BAC has superior quality control over its parts.BAC compressor’s castings are manufactured in its own foundry division which is situated on a 1,16,000sqft. It has an installed capacity of 6000 tons/annum which has the latest manufacturing equipment’s like High pressure molding machine, high speed intensive mixer which is fully controlled by SCADA, Inductotherm furnace, Automatic core shooters and semi-automatic fettling.
It has a state of the art metallurgical lab which has Spectrometer, UTM, Impact tester, Micro structure analysis through Image analyser. The lab is specifically certified for PED (pressure equipment directive) by TUV Nord Germany to manufacture parts that involves high pressure. With such high quality manufacturing and testing, all the castings adhere to strict grades and dimensions which improve the lifetime of compressor components. All the castings from the foundry division are manufactured in BAC’s own machining division which is situated on 30,000 sqft.
It is equipped with latest CNC turning, Horizontal Machining Centres, Vertical Machining Centres, Vertical turning lathes, Honing machine, Surface grinding and dynamic balancing machine. It is also equipped with a state of the art metrology lab which has CNC CMM’s, profile measuring, high end Surface testing and Air gauges. In-addition to this the machine shop is supported with CAD-CAM facilities from pro-E. With such high quality machining made in-house the tolerances limits for all the measuring is kept low which in turn increases the efficiency of the compressor.
In our Assembly division which is situated separately, all the items which are manufactured in-house and bought out go through strict quality inspection which is according to BAC QMS. The assembly division contains all the latest assembly lines to cater to our various compressor models. The facility has a capacity to manufacture 8000 compressors per annum. All the compressors are tested according to IS5456 standards. There is a separate ambient controlled test facility for testing the flow of compressors according to IS10431. In addition to this the unit is supported with Simulation, 3D drawing and assembly drawing from Solidworks.
Both the Foundry division and Machining division are ISO9001:2008 certified by TUV Rheinland. With such an infrastructure and in-house capabilities we carefully examine the end to end manufacturing process to bring the best reliable and energy efficient compressors to our customers.
